Laced, illicit substances have been found inside the Mississauga condo where the homicide investigation into the deaths of three men continue, Peel police say.

Officers were called to the area of Burnhamthorpe Road and Confederation Parkway at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday after the victims, described as being in their late 20s, were discovered. Another man inside the unit was taken to a local hospital as a precaution and is in stable condition, police say.

Peel police note there is concern the illicit substances may have been laced with something unknown. The specific type of illicit substances has not been identified.

“These types of drugs are manufactured illegally and in ways that cause inconsistency in potency. This process makes the combination of drugs unpredictable and potentially life threatening for users,” Peel police said in a news release Wednesday night.

A coroner confirmed the deaths to be suspicious in nature, though the cause of death has not yet been announced.
