Benzo Test Kit - Reliable Benzodiazepine Testing

Benzodiazepines, commonly known as benzos, are prescription medications that can be found in a variety of substances. However, the misuse of benzos, either intentionally or unintentionally, can lead to harmful effects. Our kit provides a reliable, easy-to-use tool for identifying benzodiazepines in drugs, helping you to make informed decisions and prioritize safety.

What is a Benzo Test Kit?

Understanding Benzodiazepines

Benzodiazepines are sedative medications used to treat anxiety, insomnia, and seizures. Some of the most well-known include Xanax, Valium, and Ativan. These substances however are often found in counterfeit pills or are mixed with other drugs, posing significant risks. Testing for benzos is critical, especially when consuming substances from unregulated sources, as it helps to avoid unwanted effects and prevent dangerous situations.

Why Use a Benzo Test Kit?

Our kit helps detect the presence of benzodiazepines in various substances, giving users crucial information about what they're about to consume. This is especially important in harm reduction, where safety is prioritized for individuals who may use unregulated drugs. Key benefits of testing for benzos include:

  • Preventing adverse reactions to hidden benzodiazepines in your drugs.
  • Minimizing overdose risks by avoiding accidental ingestion of strong sedatives.
  • Confirming the presence of benzodiazepines in unknown pills that are intended to have benzodiazepines.
  • Empowering users to make informed decisions about their substance use.

How to Use the Benzo Test Kit

Step-by-Step Guide

Using the Benzo Test Kit is simple and straightforward. Follow these steps for accurate results:

  1. Knock the unopened ampoule several times against a hard surface, so the granules, which may be sticking to the inside of the ampoule wall, fall downwards.
  2. Take the top of the ampoule between the thumb and index finger and snap off the top with the ampoule breaker.
  3. Use the spatula to insert the suspect material (approximately 20 mg) into the ampoule. Make sure the powder does not contain any limps, as it may influence the results of the test.
  4. Use the spatula to stir the solution well for about 10 seconds. Make sure not to leave the spatula in the ampoule because it will melt if left in the ampoule. Let it stand for 5 minutes because the colour will darken slowly. Keep track of the colour change as this can help determine the type of benzodiazepine in your sample.
  5. Carefully shake the ampoule for 5 seconds to make the colour homogenous. Compare the colour from the reagent with the colour line printed on the ampoule.
  6. After use, dispose the ampoules in the trash or glass bin.

Reading and Interpreting Results

After using the test, results will be visible as a color change. Here's how to interpret the outcome:

  • Positive Result: If the color matches the positive section of the chart, benzodiazepines are present in the substance.
  • Red/orange/yellow/light green colour: Valium was detected in the drug sample.
  • Dark purple/maroon colour: Rohypnol “date rape” was detected in the drug sample.
  • Yellow: Nitrazepam was detected in the drug sample.
  • Red/dark green colour: Flurazepam was detected in the drug sample.
  • Negative Result: No color change means no benzos were detected.
  • Invalid Result: If the result seem unclear, such an unrecognized colour, the test may need to be repeated with a new sample.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

To ensure the most accurate results, avoid the following common mistakes:

  • Using too much or too little of the sample. Follow the kit’s instructions carefully for the correct amount. Use an amount equal to the tip of the spatula provided.
  • Ensuring your sample is homogenous. Ensure the sample is mixed properly to avoid a false negative.
  • Not allowing enough time for the reagent to react. Be patient and allow the reaction to complete before reading the result.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How does the Benzo Test Kit work?

  • The kit uses chemical reagents that react with benzodiazepines in your substance. The reagent changes color based on the presence of benzos, which is then compared to a color chart for interpretation.

What substances can this kit detect?

  • The Benzo Test Kit detects the most common benzodiazepines, which are Valium and Rohypnol (“date rape drug”), Nitrazepam, and Flurazepam.

How accurate are the results?

  • Our Benzo Test Kit is highly accurate when used correctly. However, like all test kits, it’s important to follow instructions carefully for the best results. Testing does not guarantee 100% safety but significantly reduces risks.

Can I reuse the Benzo Test Kit?

  • No, each test kit is designed for single use only. For the most accurate results, always use a new kit for each test.

What should I do if the test shows a positive result?

  • If the test indicates benzodiazepines are present, it’s best to avoid using the substance, especially if it was not expected. Consider seeking further information or support from harm reduction services.

    FAQs

How do I use the kit?

Instructions on performing the test are included with your test kit. We’ve also included them on the product pages. You can also click here to find out more.

How much of the sample should I use?

A very small sample is sufficient. In general, your sample should be about 20mg or 1-2 drops.

My vial looks empty, can I still use it?

Some of our test kits require very minimal reagent to be effective, while other kits require more. Depending on the kit you buy, there might seem like very little reagent (few drops). Do not worry, as this is intentional. Some kits are designed to have that amount of reagent, and you can still use it.

    How reliable are the tests?

While reagent testing is the best method for on-the-spot testing, it is never 100% conclusive. There are many variables that can impact what the reaction looks like. Lighting, impurities, and unwanted substances in your sample may all play a role.

Some of my friends get benzo's off the street and I worry about them. I found this test kit that can at least confirm if it's Valium (Diazepam) or Rohypnol (Flunitrazepam). They find these kits helpful
